CENTRAL LIBRARY

The Central Library of the SVSU began its existence in July 2017 since then it has grown in size and contents along with the university to take the present shape. The university library is playing role as the lifeline for the academic activities. At present, it stands as a modern library with a lot of automation and networking facilities.

SVSU Central Library occupies a unique place in academic and research activities of the University. Library has rich collection of various subjects like Vocational and Technical, Management, Public Health, Food Processing, Geographic Information System, Languages, Music and Applied Sciences in form of text, reference, online resources as e-books, e-journals, e-thesis, e-tutorials, Audio- video lectures, images, motion pictures etc.

In that direction the Central Library provides access to millions of e-books and e-journals, e-magazines and newspapers in physical as well as remote access facilities.

Library has membership of Developing Library Network (DELNET), New Delhi. DELNET is good sources of information resources and inter library loan facilities in India. More than 20,0000 e-books, 15000 e-journals and subject databases are available at its digital platform for accessing e-learning resources in library for academic fraternity.

Library is fully automated through e-Granthalaya library management software. It is developed by National Informatics Centre, New Delhi. Library activities related to library management, services and digitalization run through this software. Web OPAC is also available for library database searching to the users through computer as well as smart mobile phone. Android mobile application is also available to access digital learning resources.

The Central Library has an anti-plagiarism cell for detection of plagiarism level in research reports, thesis, dissertation and assignments.

Library has state-of-the-art facilities and provides innovative library services through fully air-conditioned library building with modern infrastructure, equipment, digital library, computer lab, library website etc. Library subscribes national and international journals, e-books, e-newspapers, magazines in CD /DVD / online format. 

OBJECTIVES

  • To acquire, organise and update the library collection to support teaching learning process.

  • To encourage students to read beyond the requirements of the curriculum.

  • To work with faculty in integrating information skills, knowledge of information sources and the use of technology in accessing information need to strengthen their instruction, research and extension

  • To provide instruction and assistance in the effective use of learning resources and services


VISION

  • The central Library aims to become the model library in the field of vocational education and skilling.

  • The library extends to incorporate the latest technology and adopt users friendly approach towards students and faculty.

  • The intends to offer comprehensive services related to dissemination of knowledge.


MISSION

  • Library serves as a learning resource centre and aims to develop a comprehensive collection of books, journals and digital resources for students and faculty of the university and provides an efficient dissemination of knowledge.

  • To provide an enviable research environment and state of the art technological exposure to its scholars.

  • To develop human potential to its fullest extent and make them emerge as world in their professions and enthuse them towards their social responsibilities.


LIBRARY OPENING HOURS

  • The Central Library opens from 9.00AM to 6.00PM on all working days. Reading room is available for round the clock.


LIBRARY USER AND PRIVILAGES

  • Membership of the Central Library is open to all university teachers, non-teaching staff and students. The entitlement of borrowing books as given below:-

LIBRARY COMMITTEE

Library Committee is the governing body of the University Library System - formulates library policies for the guidance of the University Librarian / Library in Charge. This Committee has Vice-Chancellor as its Chairman and University Librarian as its Member-Secretary. Dean, Academic Affairs, Dean of Engineering, Deans of student welfare, Heads of Teaching Departments, and Registrar are its ex officio Members. One library expert is nominated as its Members by the Vice-Chancellor. The following are the members of Library Advisory Committee of HVSU Central Library.
